Now living in New Zealand, an insatiable curiosity got the better of him long ago, at 17 he visited Mexico City, an experience that set him on course to ‘specialize in ill-planned and underfunded excursions into the lesser known’ for the best part of two decades, Myanmar, Taiwan, Honduras, and Vanuatu to mention but a few always with camera in hand. To this day travel remains a deep passion and photography a complimentary obsession. ‘If there is such a thing as the perfect shot, it dwells in the mundane tedium of daily life, in the towns that we pass through getting to our destination, in the gaps between other things, or the edges where worlds collide, that is where I like to photograph” During one of several overseas trips he became particularly taken by the relationships between people and plants, an interest that saw him go on to obtain a degree in global horticulture and work with several leading organizations both in the UK and Overseas. It is an interest that continues to this day and plays an important role in his daily life, photography and written work. Able the photograph, write and design Dan is regularly commissioned by a surprising array of clients, he's always looking for the next interesting shot or story and always, always keen to collaborate with others. His rates are really competitive and he's always up for a something new so don't hesitate to get in touch with any questions, commissions or a bright idea that everyone else thinks is crazy.
